It was not just a home.
We built our foundation in the concrete
We sat our future on the stilts
We put a roof on our treasures to safeguard our everything
So when you tore it down
You did not just dismantle bricks
We were deeper than this
I never got to say goodbye to my home.
My place that belonged to us
The place of all places
Where we would blend in and be forgotten, together
It was not just a home.
Everywhere we go
We will carry these pieces
Of us
These are my 4am whispers
I still believe I’ll find my way back
And like a cloud that never left us
We will hold everything we own
In our hearts and it will warm our palms
When we are finally,
home.
