Silver by Eli Oko

She pulled strands of silver from my sleeves
Colourful mysteries I bleed
Whether crawling on my knees
Flying high above the trees
Silver dripping just beneath

She pulled strands of silver from my teeth
Words that burst and fill the need
Nothing lost or found for free
A thousand thousands paid to keep
Silver dripping just beneath

She pulled strands of silver from my sheets
Through nights I trust myself to dream
Praying for a deeper sleep
Pillow holds the tears I weep
Silver dripping just beneath

She pulled strands of silver and made me gleam
A nameless star she made in me
I let her in to make her home
And now alone she craves to be
A solemn story her eyes read
A man of silver is what she needs
Reflecting all that I can’t be is
Silver, dripping just beneath.
