Reassurance by Eli Oko

You don’t need as much reassurance as me

I need words, actions, intentions.

Words, so that I know what shapes your truth and lies make

Actions, so that I can recognise what happiness and sadness becomes in your eyes

And intentions so that I can be hopeful…

Hopeful so that even when you don’t live up to your words or speak louder with your actions, I still have something to hold on to.

Give me a reason to not let go.

I know most don’t need as much reassurance as me

But I pray you stick with me anyway

And entertain my need to be loved better.
