Your Pages by Eli Oko

I would wear your confidence on my skin

to hide my pain within

because you although wearing scars of your past

wear them so much braver

so much time later.

I wonder whether the paint you use will ever dry

as it drips

from your pages to this

Happily, I hold close every word between your lips.

Your pages although still unfinished

have been a pleasure to read

and every memory we have made

will be a pleasure to keep.

Forever written in my heart for all to find

hoping I have made a lasting impression on yours, at least for a while

so that one day I will not only be somewhere in a chapter of your life

but on the very pages you’ll turn to for reasons to smile.
